What is a "Guest Singer?"

There's nothing like singing to live music. Whether it's being part of a band or with just a single guitar, it's a unique experience that not enough people get a chance to do in their lifetimes. Millions of people have stepped up to the microphone in bars and restaurants around the world to sing karaoke with prerecorded music. While there is no doubt that this a great deal of fun (I've done it quite a few times myself!), it happens in virtually every bar at some time during the week. It's the same thing every night. Singing with live music is simply more intimate and more unforgetable.

When I perform, I strongly encourage others to come up and share the stage with me to sing one of approximately 400 songs that I play on the guitar. I always have multiple copies of my song list available at every performance so everybody knows what songs are available to them to perform. I provide a microphone, the lyrics on a computer monitor and, depending on what the person wants, I can sing along with them or he/she can sing on their own. I have two main goals for all Guest Singers: 1) I want the participant to be at ease, and 2) I want the participant to have FUN! Singing to live music is much different than singing to prerecorded music, and it can make people a little nervous at first. However, I feel my personality and experience performing with others makes it a very enjoyable experience for everybody.
